District Library, Kaithal
Kaithal is an ancient city, dating back to Vedas period. Many ancient scriptures mention it as Kapisthala, kapi means Lord Hanumaan and sthala means abode. They combine to mean abode of Lord Hanumaan. In those times the region was abundant with lush green forests and the sacred river Saraswati passed through this region. This area was considered to be very sacred and many rishis and munis (saints) came here for mediation. They brought with them their cultural backgrounds and eventually many cultures flourished here.
